A new trailer for the upcoming horror film The Mummy has arrived, revealing a chilling premise: a family still mourning the disappearance of their daughter eight years ago in Cairo suddenly receives a life-changing call. She has been found. But something is terribly wrong.
Before the emotional reunion, a doctor warns the parents: “It’s very important you fully prepare yourself for what you are about to see. No sudden moves. No loud noises.”
As it turns out, Katie didn’t simply vanish—she spent the last eight years sealed inside a 3,000-year-old sarcophagus, emerging as a living, mummy-like creature. In one unsettling moment, she reassures her grandmother with dark calm: “Don’t worry grandma, it’s fun to be dead.”
The film, written and directed by Lee Cronin, brings together a cast including Jack Reynor, Laia Costa, May Calamawy, Natalie Grace, and Veronica Falcón. Cronin, who breathed new life into the Evil Dead franchise with 2023’s Evil Dead Rise—which grossed $147 million worldwide—first gained attention with his 2019 Sundance horror The Hole in the Ground.
Behind the scenes, Cronin is joined by heavyweight producers James Wan, Jason Blum, and John Keville. The creative team also includes director of photography Dave Garbett, production designer Nick Bassett, editor Bryan Shaw, costume designer Joanna Eatwell, composer Stephen McKeon, and casting directors Terri Taylor and Sarah Domeier Lindo.
Why This Film Stands Out
Rather than retreading familiar territory, this Mummy reimagines classic lore through a modern horror lens. Cronin describes the story as a “puzzle box” filled with buried secrets, exploring Egyptian mythology in fresh, unexpected ways. The trailer hints at a distinctive visual style and mounting suspense, promising a terrifying family drama wrapped in an ancient curse.
