Just before his departure for a major engagement in Italy, Prince William took a moment to express his support for a cause close to his heart.
On Saturday, Kensington Palace released a personal message from the Prince of Wales congratulating the Swimathon charity on its 40th anniversary. For four decades, the organization has been dedicated to a mission that truly transforms lives.
“A huge congratulations to @swimathon_uk on 40 years of bringing people together through swimming,” the message read. “It’s so inspiring to see hundreds of thousands of people taking part while raising millions for life-changing charities.”
The note was signed with the initial “W,” a signature touch indicating it was written personally by the future king.
Swimathon, which takes place every March across more than 450 pools in the UK, raises vital funds for charities including Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie, as well as the Swimathon Foundation. Since it began in 1986, the event has raised over £50 million. The next challenge is scheduled for March 20-22, 2026.
The Prince and Princess of Wales have previously supported the initiative through The Royal Foundation, teaming up with Olympic swimming champion Tom Dean to help children across the country learn to swim. Both William and Kate are keen swimmers themselves and have often highlighted the importance of teaching this essential skill to young children.
