In a notable shift, Prince Harry appears to be making tentative moves toward ending the bitter feud with his brother, Prince William. The Duke of Sussex’s reported desire to reconnect with his family in the UK has led him, according to one royal observer, to essentially “raise the white flag” ahead of a significant upcoming event.
The once-inseparable brothers have been locked in a prolonged silence, having not spoken since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022. Yet, royal expert Jennie Bond suggests Harry is now “fed up of the feud” and is desperately seeking to repair the relationship, signaling a desire for peace with both William and the wider royal family.
“Harry may be looking for an opportunity to establish a peace treaty,” Bond wrote for the i newspaper. She points to next year’s Invictus Games in Birmingham as a potential platform. “Charles, Camilla and William were all on parade to support Harry at the inaugural games in 2014. Is it possible that they’ll be there again? It could present the perfect platform for a public reconciliation.”
However, the path to reconciliation appears one-sided for now. Bond notes that the Prince of Wales “has, as yet, shown absolutely no interest in mending the rift with his brother.” She explains that William has historically been stubborn in such matters, though she observes he has “of late become less guarded about his emotions.”
Bond advocates for a resolution, arguing that the ongoing conflict is ultimately harmful to all involved. “Perhaps the time has come for a heart-to-heart with his brother,” she added. “A lifetime of feuding is exhausting and damaging. William’s reign would be so much easier without the baggage of family estrangements.”
