Actor Noah Wyle will be honored with the 2,840th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on April 9th at 11:30 AM PT. The ceremony will take place at 6164 Hollywood Boulevard, in front of El Centro, and will be streamed live exclusively on the Walk of Fame’s official website. Wyle will receive his star in the television category.
Entertainment personality Derek Hough will serve as emcee for the event, which is administered by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce on behalf of the City of Los Angeles. The Walk of Fame has been a globally recognized cultural landmark since 1960.
A Career Spanning Decades
“The Doctor is in!” said Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk of Fame, in a nod to Wyle’s most iconic role. Martinez praised the actor for making an enduring mark on both television and film, adding that the organization is thrilled to celebrate his remarkable career and contributions to the entertainment industry.
A Hollywood native, Wyle began his professional acting career in 1989. He co-founded Los Angeles’ Blank Theater Company in 1990, serving as its artistic producer for nearly 20 years.
He rose to international fame as Dr. John Carter on the hit medical drama ER, a role he played for over 250 episodes, making him one of the show’s longest-running cast members. His performance earned him five Emmy nominations and three Golden Globe nominations.
Recent Success and Historic Awards
More recently, Wyle has starred in, written, directed, and executive produced the HBO Max medical drama The Pitt, where he plays senior emergency physician Michael “Robby” Robinavitch. His performance made history: he became the first male actor to win top dramatic acting honors from all five major television awards in a single season, securing an Emmy, a Golden Globe, an Actor Award, a Critics’ Choice Award, and a Television Critics Association Award. The series ranks among the platform’s most-watched original shows and is currently in pre-production for its third season.
His other notable television credits include Leverage: Redemption, The Red Line, The Romanoffs, The Librarians, and Falling Skies. On the film side, his credits include A Few Good Men, Donnie Darko, and Pirates of Silicon Valley, where he was the first actor to portray Steve Jobs.
Advocacy and Civic Engagement
Beyond acting, Wyle has been actively involved in community and civic causes. His advocacy work spans human rights, healthcare access, and environmental issues, with support for organizations such as Human Rights Watch, Doctors of the World, the World Wildlife Fund, and the Rape Treatment Center. He has also been a vocal supporter of the Stay in LA campaign, which advocates for keeping film and television production in Los Angeles.
The Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony is free and open to the public, with star events broadcast to fans worldwide. Honorees are selected by a committee of their peers, with stars and ceremonies funded by sponsors who also contribute to the attraction’s ongoing maintenance.
