Prince Harry has released a heartfelt video message from his home in Montecito, reaching out to the British public with a personal request as tensions continue to mount within the royal family.
The Duke of Sussex appeared in the clip to encourage people across the UK to put forward nominations for the 2026 WellChild Awards—a charity he has proudly supported as patron for nearly two decades. The organisation is dedicated to supporting seriously ill children and young people, along with their families, throughout the country.
Speaking directly to viewers, Harry opened up about what the initiative means to him.
“Every year, one of the moments I look forward to the most is spending time with the incredible children and families that I meet through the WellChild Awards,” he shared.
He went on to praise the extraordinary spirit of the young people at the heart of the charity. “These children and young people are living with complex medical needs—challenges that most of us can barely imagine. And yet time and again, they meet life with positivity, courage, humour and an extraordinary joy for living.”
The Duke didn’t stop there. He also took a moment to acknowledge the dedication of those who care for them day in and day out—healthcare professionals, parents, and siblings whose lives are shaped by compassion and sacrifice.
In a direct appeal to the public, he said: “If you know a child who’s learned hospital routines before playground games, a sibling who quietly became a carer, or a parent or professional whose life revolves around constant selfless care, please nominate them for a WellChild Award.”
Closing the message on a warm and hopeful note, the father of two expressed his excitement at the prospect of meeting the award recipients in person at next year’s ceremony.
Nominations are officially open and will be accepted until March 16.
The video comes at a particularly turbulent time for the royals. Just hours before Harry’s appeal went live, his uncle, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was arrested at Marsh Farm—an event that has only deepened the sense of crisis within the family.
