According to royal expert Ian Pelham Turner, Princess Diana was deeply concerned about Prince Harry’s future within the royal family, as Prince William was often given preferential treatment. In an interview with Fox News Digital, Turner explained that Diana worried about Harry’s place in life due to the unequal footing between the brothers from an early age.
Turner suggested that Diana’s focus on Harry’s personal grooming may have been her way of creating balance. He added that while William is clearly determined to become king, Harry has proven his leadership abilities—both during his military service and in his efforts to protect his family abroad.
These remarks follow revelations from Richard Kay, a veteran royal writer and close confidant of Diana, who noted that even during her lifetime, the princess believed William was aware of his destiny yet remained shy and uneasy about it. Kay recalled Diana describing William as hesitant about taking on the “top job” and the prospect of one day wearing the crown.
In fact, Diana had reportedly considered the possibility that Harry might one day succeed King Charles. She even had a private nickname for her younger son, calling him “Good King Harry.”
