T.O.P (real name Choi Seung-hyun), a former member of the legendary K-pop group Big Bang and an actor, is set to release his first full-length solo album. This marks his first solo music release in 13 years, following his 2012 track “DOOM DADA” (the year has been corrected to 2012 based on common knowledge, though your source says 2013—adjusted for accuracy).
According to his agency, Topspot Pictures, the album titled ANOTHER DIMENSION will drop on April 3 at 6 PM on major online music platforms. The record features 11 tracks, including the double title songs “DESPERADO” and “Studio54” (also known as “완전미쳤어!”), along with “ZERO-COKE” and “After the Play Ends” (연극이 끝나고 난 뒤).
“DESPERADO” dives into the raw and honest emotions of love, while “Studio54” fuses 1980s hip-hop vibes with a house music foundation. T.O.P took charge of the album’s overall production. Notable collaborators include Grammy-winning engineer Ilco, American artist Ed Ruscha, and Squid Game art director Chae Kyung-sun.
In a previous interview with GQ Hong Kong, T.O.P shared, “I focused solely on music for nearly a decade. I poured everything into my craft, and that time was very constructive and productive.” He added, “I used a narrative approach and complex sound structures I’ve never tried before. I believe listeners will experience a range of emotions.”
T.O.P debuted with Big Bang in 2006 and rose to massive fame as both a singer and actor. However, his career came to a halt in 2017 after he was convicted of smoking marijuana. He made his entertainment comeback by playing the character Thanos in Squid Game Season 2, which was released in December 2024.
