If Prince William had to decide between a beard and a moustache, he’d go with the moustache—and according to the man himself, that’s a recent revelation.
During a visit to troops in Wiltshire, the future king spent time with soldiers from the 1st Battalion, The Mercian Regiment at Bulford. In a lighthearted conversation with one young soldier, William hinted at a possible style overhaul. Playfully touching his face, he joked about his beard—which he’s worn since 2024—saying, “I might end up taking mine off and leaving a tash.”
According to the Daily Mail, the Prince of Wales seemed impressed by the facial hair sported by the Mercian Regiment, a trend that started after their deployment in Estonia last year. The British Army now permits soldiers to wear neatly groomed beards and moustaches, adding to the newfound inspiration.
The playful exchange wasn’t the only moment of humor during the visit. William was also left in stitches after a conversation with a soldier’s mother, Maxine Debonnaire. She told him that since her son returned from Estonia, she’d barely seen him because he was too busy dating. The father of three responded with a laugh, “I think we’ll get on very well.”
Beyond the lighthearted banter, William’s visit included observing drone warfare training, exploring cutting-edge military technology, and presenting medals to service members.
Whether he’ll actually trade his signature beard for a moustache remains to be seen.
