The King’s Foundation is undergoing a significant leadership change, delivering an unexpected blow to the monarch just as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex carry out a high-profile visit to Jordan.
Kristina Murrin CBE is stepping down from her role as Chief Executive Officer after three years at the helm of the charity founded by King Charles. Her departure follows the successful launch of the foundation’s documentary feature, Finding Harmony: A King’s Vision.
In an official statement, the foundation expressed gratitude for Murrin’s leadership, noting she guided the organization through a dynamic period of growth. The board has already begun the search for her successor.
However, according to Hello magazine, which cited The Sunday Times Whitehall Editor Gabriel Pogrund, the resignation has left King Charles “profoundly unhappy” and created a sense of “instability” within the charity’s upper management.
The timing adds an extra layer of scrutiny, as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are currently in Jordan on what they describe as a listening and learning mission. Their visit highlights Jordan’s role in humanitarian leadership, including its collaboration with the World Health Organization and its medical response efforts amid the ongoing crisis in Gaza. The Sussexes are using the trip to urge governments and global institutions to protect humanitarian access, prioritize mental health support, and invest in sustainable, community-led solutions.
