It has been barely three weeks since Samsung unveiled its highly anticipated first-generation Galaxy Z TriFold, and while the device has been celebrated for its innovative design, a couple of early adopters are already reporting issues. Social media posts, particularly on Reddit, have highlighted problems with the phone’s inner display becoming unresponsive, putting the tech giant in a tricky spot just as its latest gadget hits the market.
It’s important to note that, so far, these reports appear to be isolated incidents rather than a widespread defect. Only two users have come forward with detailed accounts of malfunctions, but their experiences paint a frustrating picture for anyone investing in cutting-edge technology.
What Users Are Reporting
Both complaints surfaced on Reddit and were accompanied by video evidence showing the devices in a state of failure.
- The Green Flash: One user described their device malfunctioning during “normal usage.” Suddenly, the inner screen flashed green and became completely unresponsive. A temporary reset brought the display back, but the problem soon reoccurred. Samsung has reportedly stepped in and offered a free repair, though the user was warned the process could take up to three weeks.
- The White Screen: The second user reported a similar, though visually different, issue. Their inner display turned into a static, all-white screen and refused to respond to any input, even after attempting a reset. Rather than waiting for a repair, this individual opted to return the unit to Samsung for a full refund. They expressed a willingness to give the TriFold another chance in the future, hoping the initial kinks will be ironed out by then.
Samsung’s Response
According to reports, Samsung is moving quickly to address the concerns of affected customers, offering free repairs to those who wish to keep the device. However, the company may face a logistical hurdle. Due to the limited initial stock of the Galaxy Z TriFold, outright replacements could be difficult to come by. The current fix for most will likely be a repair, which, as noted, could take several weeks.
On a more positive note, Samsung has confirmed that new units of the Galaxy Z TriFold are expected to be available in the US shortly. This suggests that production is ramping up, which could help alleviate stock issues and potentially address any early manufacturing quirks. For now, the situation serves as a reminder that being on the bleeding edge of technology sometimes comes with a few bruises.
